Fiilo Plant Pot Review
Sunday, 30 August 2015
This minimal plant pot was made using a 3D printer! How is that not cool? I wasn't expecting them to be in such a perfect condition as they're made from a 3D printer. The pot is made from biodegradable PLA (polylactic acid, I took Chemistry...) plastic, which is derived form renewable sources so it doesn't have a negative effect on the environment. They're really light as well, and I can't imagine them breaking if dropped.
I don't think you could buy a more awesome pot for your plants than this, I love this design. Mine is in a medium, you can also get a small and large. There are more designs on fiilo's site you can choose from. This one is only £15, I have a bunch of cacti in their ugly brown pots that I purchased them in. I think I'll need to get my hands on some more of these geometric pots.
Check out their store and let me know what you think of their other designs
Customise your own sunglasses - Sili review
Wednesday, 26 August 2015
Sili sunglasses are durable as they're designed to withstand impact from extreme sports. They're made from flexible polymer, so they return to their shape if they've been bent. There is such a wide variety of lenses, arms and frames to choose from on Sili. I chose a clear frame with blue lenses. You can easily pop off the arms and change up the look.
The sunglasses come with a big sturdy case, which further ensures your sunglasses won't break! Inside this case comes a black pouch and white cleaning cloth, along with the sunglasses. The lenses are kind of mirrored rather than tinted. It would be awesome if they expanded the styles they have, such as round or cat eye. I love these sunglasses, you can mix and match so many colours, the fact they're indestructible is helpful too. Sunglasses are too easy to break, I'd pick up a pair if I were you!

AUGUST PLAYLIST 2015
Monday, 24 August 2015
I'm going to start making monthly playlist posts on what I've been listening to during that month. The music isn't necessarily recent and from that month. I just thought I'd share with you some new artists that I've discovered, along with some classics;
The entire album by Zella Day is amazing. I discovered Zella Day through Catfish The TV Show; Compass was playing in the background and I loved the way it sounded so I used the app shazam to find out what it was. Ever since I've noticed her music in the background of my favourite shows, such as The Vampire Diaries and Pretty Little Liars. Her sound reminds me of Lana Del Rey.
This is another song I found from a show I watch; Pretty Little Liars. I love the music they play on PLL, I created a playlist on spotify.
LANA DEL REY // HIGH BY THE BEACH
I've only recently actually taken the time to appreciate Lana's music. The only song I really would listen to was summertime sadness whilst it played in the spa in Spain. So now every time I listen to Lana it reminds me of my holiday. Also the artwork is really pretty so why not listen???

SELENA GOMEZ // GOOD FOR YOU Selena's new sound is life. Her new song sounds completely different to anything she's ever made; and it's great. Her new album: Revival will be released on 9th October.
THRONE // BRING ME THE HORIZON BMTH are releasing a new album in September and from this song, you can tell it's going to be amazing! I'm so excited to hear it.
Let me know in the comments what you've been listening to

Make Up Brushes for less (L.A.B. 2 review)
I was sent the Strokes Of Genius brush kit by L.A.B. 2. The set involves an eyeshadow brush, crease brush, pointed eyeliner brush, brow & liner brush, brow & lash groomer. I really like the design, the brushes are very sleek and feel a good quality. The packaging is also very nice and you can tell straight away you're getting a decent product. The set only costs £18.99.
The brushes themselves are very sturdy so they stay the same shape making it easier to apply. The handles are a sort of rubber material which also helps with application as you can get a better grip. I use Zoeva brushes, which although I prefer the design and they're much softer, I would consider LAB 2 to be the same quality. If you're on the hunt for some new brushes I would for sure recommend L.A.B 2 along with Zoeva.
The brushes are available at superdrug
If you're from the US you can get them at amazon and walmart.

What to watch on Netflix

Prison Break
Probably my favourite series. Lincoln Burrows is framed for murder and his brother, Michael Scofield, creates a plan to bust him out. The first step to his plan is to get himself arrested, and as you probably guessed, they face a number of problems on their journey. But before getting himself in prison he gets a big tattoo on his torso. However this tattoo is special, it contains a well hidden map of the prison, along with places and names to guide him along the way.
It's so different to the other series I watch. Prison Break will for sure keep you on the edge of your seat! The show involves a lot of quick decisions, fast past action, deception and relief- believe me when I say there are a lot of close calls. You'll be surprised you support the sides of criminals.
The Vampire Diaries
When I saw this advertised on ITV a few years ago I remember thinking it was just a copy of twilight, little did I know I was going to be obsessed with it the summer after... My emotional attachment to these characters is ridiculous. The cast is amazing; sometimes I'm even rooting for the 'bad guys'. Despite being very dramatic and romantic, The Vampire Diaries is hilarious, sarcastic mainly. There's nothing I love more than sarcasm. The series is about a teenage girl who falls in love with two vampire brothers. However this love triangle is soon disrupted when Elena's doppelgänger Katerina Petrova. Katerina was the love of both Damon and Stefan Salvatore many many years ago. Her return, along with the Originals, lead to a number of plots against Elena and Mystic Falls.

The Originals
This is a spin off to The Vampire Diaries. The Originals is about the Mikaelson siblings in New Orleans. The siblings originally built the city but were forced to flee due to their vengeful father. Whilst away, Klaus's protege, Marcel took charge of the city. They decide the must take down Marcel and claim back what was rightfully theirs. In doing so, they must protect it from the war brewing between the vampires, werewolves and witches. I love this series, I prefer the characters on this show to most of the characters in The Vampire Diaries but I wouldn't watch this without watching TVD.
The Office (US)
This one took me a season to get into, though I did find it funny. It gets so much better once you know the characters and inside jokes. It's a comedy about office workers and their deluded boss Michael Scott (Steve Carell). There are 9 seasons and they're worth the watch. It's filmed as though it's a documentary, similar to more recent shows like Modern Family and Parks and Rec. The characters are all a little bit strange and have their own interesting relationships with people.
Hemlock Grove
Hemlock Grove is amazing, it's so gruesome and original. Two teenage girls are brutally murdered and Peter Rumancek is suspected of the crimes. He is also rumoured to be a werewolf, which although is true, he did not kill the girls. So Peter, along with Roman Godfrey (who has his own secret), set out to solve the mystery. In season 2 a cult arises to destroy the supernatural creatures. As Peter and Roman fight their enemies they must also deal with the monster they are becoming, or have already become. The way Peter transforms into a werewolf is so cool I'd recommend watching this just to see it!
American Horror Story
Each season is a different story but with the same cast. Season one, otherwise known as Murder House, revolves round a family that moves into a house haunted by its deceased former occupants. The second season is called Asylum, this follows the stories of the criminally insane. The third season, titled Coven, is about witches who face off those against them. It's a very girl power season. The fourth, is Freak Show, takes place in 1952 following the lives of the freaks in one of the few remaining Freak Shows in America. The fifth season is of course Hotel which stars Lady Gaga and is set to premiere in October. The characters are strange but intriguing, which is what makes AHS so incredible. I mean, my favourite character is someone who raped his girlfriends mum and killed his classmates??? You'll understand when you watch it...
Orange Is The New Black
Piper Chapman's past catches up with her and she trades her privileged life for time in a minimum security women's prison. The women on this show are amazing, the characters and the cast. I couldn't mention OITNB without highlighting how awesome Matt McGorry is! He's such a great guy, he's a feminist and is constantly showing his support for trans, gay, lesbian and black people. Something that shouldn't even need praising as we all should respect people, whatever their gender identity, sexual orientation or race. Like I said, the cast is full of amazing people, Uzo Aduba and Laverne Cox are truly inspiring.
Gossip Girl
This is such a guilty pleasure of mine. The first few seasons are so cringy but I couldn't help but watch. Gossip Girl follows the lives of privileged teens on the upper east side. Serena and Blair are best friends, but the attention is all on Serena. Dan is from a different world but despite this, he and Serena begin to date. What Dan doesn't know, is Serena has a long history; and more than once, Gossip Girl gets in between their relationship. Things get super weird when Dan finds out his father has a past with Serena's mother, which resurfaces all to easily. The show isn't just about who's with who, it follows how the teens find themselves. It's an interesting journey of self discovery.
Grimm
Grimm contains twists to fairytales. Nick, a detective, is a Grimm. He can see into the heart of darkness. See things no one understands. Grimm's normal interests are to hunt down Wesen. Throughout the series, Nick battles against an assortment of dangerous creatures, with help from his reformed Wesen friend Monroe and his partner Detective Hank Griffin.
RuPaul's Drag Race
Drag Queen's compete in a race to win the title of 'America's Next Drag Superstar'. Each season begins with a photo shoot with a special challenge, such as having to jump off of a ledge into a foam pit whilst posing. The winner of the mini challenge tend to get an advantage in the main challenge. I find the challenges hilarious, there's so much drama, and some of the clothes they make are unbelievable. My favourite drag queen is for sure Adore Delano from season 6. If you're going to watch one season to see what it's like, I'd recommend season 6.
Pretty Little Liars
This is for sure in my top 5 favourite series. PLL is the first series I actually watched from the start from when it aired on TV, and continued to watch it. I love the cast and the characters they play. PLL is about four high school girls being harassed by 'A' after their friend Allison was murdered. A threatens to tell their secrets, and the girls try to figure out who A is and put a stop to it.
Leave recommendations in the comments below. Let me know if you've watched any of the series I've recommended and what you think.

BOOK REVIEW // Opal Plumstead by Jacqueline Wilson's 100th book!
Friday, 14 August 2015
During primary school I was obsessed with Jacqueline Wilson. Cookie was my favourite, my mum gave it to me when I broke my ankle, something to read during recovery after the surgery. I hadn't picked up a Jacqueline Wilson book in probably 6 years or so but it was interesting to revisit her work. The story goes as follows;
"Opal Plumstead might be plain, but she has always been fiercely intelligent. Yet her scholarship and dreams of university are snatched away when her father is sent to prison, and fourteen-year-old Opal must start work at the Fairy Glen sweet factory to support her family.
Opal struggles to get along with the other workers, who think her snobby and stuck-up. But Opal idolises Mrs Roberts, the factory’s beautiful, dignified owner, who introduces Opal to the legendary Mrs Pankhurst and her fellow Suffragettes. And when Opal meets Morgan - Mrs Roberts’ handsome son, and the heir to Fairy Glen – she believes she has found her soulmate. But the First World War is about to begin, and will change Opal's life for ever."
I would never had guessed that at this age I would come back to her work and be just as intrigued as I was when I was 7. I think I found this book so interesting because it has some rather heavy themes for a children's book. I wasn't expecting there to be so much depth which is why I'd recommend this book to all sorts of ages. It encourages young girls to stay strong through tough times. I don't want to talk too much about the plot as I hate spoiling things. Despite such a tragic ending, I wouldn't fault anything about this book.
